Nobody Likes Me   2 comments

Do you feel like she looks sometimes?

Do you feel like she looks sometimes?

Does this sound familiar to you? I think nobody likes me. I’m not a really likable person. Not like my friends. I’m not as good as them, honestly. I feel think things would be better if I wasn’t here…

Have those thoughts come to you before? Maybe not as deeply, or maybe not in that order, but I think we’ve all felt ‘nobody likes me’ from time to time. I sure have.

Thoughts like these separate people from their churches, beloved family from family members, and partners from their partners. Some people unforunately commit suicide believing, deep down… ‘Nobody likes me‘.

It’s perfectly normal to feel that way, no-one’s happy 24 hours a day. And hey, maybe there’s truth to what you feel – perhaps some people visibly don’t like you. Your feelings are important, so feel your feelings. Feel like no-one likes you, if you really want. I feel like punching some people sometimes. Doesn’t mean I have to act upon it.

You don’t have to act upon any depressing feeling that comes your way. Don’t let Satan lie to you. Satan wants to kill and destroy you (John 10:10), and if he can do it through your thoughts, he will. Don’t be ignorant of the weapons Satan uses against you. (2 Corinthians 2:11) He wants to wipe you out and drag you to hell starting with your mind – don’t let him.

Think about it… How can nobody like you? Not one person on God’s green earth? And hey, not everyone is going to like you. There are 7 MILLION PEOPLE on the planet earth. (Source: World Bank, 2013.) Can you be liked by everyone on earth? Can everyone on earth dislike you? Are you Satan

Someone likes you just the way you are. In fact, I’d wager to say more than one person looks at you and finds pleasure in just seeing you. You are not irrelevant.

(Warning: Lots of ‘maybes’ coming.) Maybe you wonder if no-one will sweep you off your feet and say ‘hey baby, I lurve you.’ ❤ But there are again 7 BILLION PEOPLE in the world today. Do you really think that no-one – out of 7 BILLION – can genuinely love you? You just haven’t been found yet. And hey, more than half the world’s population is in Asia. If you really can’t find someone to marry where you are… Tickets to Asia are cheap. 😀

It would be true to say you mean very little to some people, but you mean everything to someone. Some people think the world of you. It’s true. Someone may say ‘you’re not my cup of tea’ but to someone else you are their whole breakfast.

Maybe you feel no-one likes you in your church, or school, or work place? That’s a difficult one. Maybe you see a lot of differences between you and your brethren or colleagues. Or maybe… You can stop looking at the differences and think more on how much you have in common, and be nicer. He who wants friends must show himself friendly, after all. (Proverbs 18:24)

Maybe you feel God doesn’t love you… maybe you’ve sinned and you reckon now God thinks you suck. It might be difficult for you to remember but God loves the sinner. After all, Jesus died for us before we even do anything.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
Romans 5:8 NLT

See? God loves you just the way you are. Yeah, you can be a better person. But God loves you even if you never change.

God even knows how many hairs are on your head. (And for some of you folks, that’s difficult.) Does that sound like someone who doesn’t care for you?

And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.
Matthew 10:30 NLT

As you walk with God, He may be hard on you in some ways but he corrects those he loves. (Proverbs 3:12) Let me assure you, if God didn’t like you, he’d never let you suffer because we can learn so much through suffering.

Spend time talking with God through Jesus and you will discover the truth – you are liked. You are loved. You are cared for. Be happy in God’s providence of love.

PS – If you really need someone to open up to, leave a comment, I’m here. 🙂

PPS – I highly recommend Joyce Meyer’s book Battlefield of the Mind for more on topics of the mind.
